Geographical characteristics
Bregovo Municipality is situated in the most northwestern part of the Republic of Bulgaria, it is 240km far from the capital of the country- Sofia. On the west the municipality borders with the Republic of Serbia, on the west- with the Republic of Romania and Novo selo municipality, on the south- with Boynitsa municipality, and on the east- with Vidin municipality. The total area of Bregovo municipality is 181 кm2.
Bregovo municipality consists of ten settlements, one of them is town– Bregovo and nine villages– Gamzovo, Vrav, Rakitnitsa, Kosovo, Deleyna, Baley, Kudelin, Tiyanovtsi and Kalina.
The total number of the population of Brgovo municipality until 31.12.2002 is 7181 inhabitants, 3513 of them are males and 3668 females. The ethnical composition is relatively homogenic– 98 % are Bulgarian, 2 % - Roma. The highest is the percentage of people with permanent address in the town of Bregovo– 3315 people (1589 male and 1726 female).
Transport communications
Bregovo municipality takes important place in the national and European transport schemes. There is border checkpoint in the town across the Bridge of Timok River. Bregovo has connection with all the towns and villages in the municipality and very good transport service.
Water supply
Bregovo municipality disposes with well built up water supply network – seven of the populated places are supplied by local water sources, and the three of them are supplied by water source from Vidin. There is water supply in all the towns and villages.

Education
The educational network on the territory of the municipality includes: 7 full time kinder gardens, 2 secondary schools and 5 elementary schools.
Health Care
Bregovo municipality carries out successfully the reform in health care on its territory. 6 general practice doctors are registered as well as 6 specialized dentist practices.In the town of Bregovo there are three doctor practices and three dentist practices. A clinical laboratory is functioning.
Cultural and social life
9 cultural establishments are registered in Bregovo municipality.
Industry
There is not functioning industry in Bregovo municipality. The material and technical foundation of formerly working enterprises of the light and heavy industry is kept.

This is a traditional branch in Bregovo municipality. Of totally 181 530 decares, the agricultural land 143 612 decares.

Priorities for development of Bregovo municipality
1.Ecology
• Main and basic priority in the strategy for development of Bregovo municipality.
The project for recultivation of the land along Timok river is one of the basic objects, and for their realization crossborder cooperation is necessary.
Basic ecological projects for implementation :
• Construction of purifying station for drinking water;
• Creating municipality depot for solid and construction waste- strengthening the dike along Danube river; - cleaning the draining canal Baley– Kudelin– Danube river;
2.Creating small and medium enterprises
3.Ensuring economical rate on the base of developed agricultural production, manufacturing industry/Recultivation of the land along Timok river.
