The municipality of Kula is situated in the most north- western part of our country. It appears as natural connection between Danubian plain and the utmost western spurs of Old Mountain. The territory of the municipality is 301.1 km². The distance between our capital city Sofia is 250 km. There are 9 settlements in the territory of the municipality. Administrative centre is the city of Kula. The number of employed people is 1,935. Unemployment level is 31.3% from economically active population in the region. ![]()
Transport The road network includes the following class road thoroughfares: I class – 29,700 km III class – 13,700 km IV class – 55 km. The forth class road network is old and makes problems for the traffic. Communications Communication network is well constructed. Region post station – Kula gives basically post services to the municipality’s population. Communications network is also well constructed. All populated areas have phones. There is public lighting in all settlements in the municipality.
Education On the territory of the municipality there are high school “Vasil Levski” and primary school “Otets Paisiy” in which 500 students are taught. There are 2 kindergartens with capacity of 120 children. Health service There are three doctors on general practice. Two more working places are free. There are three private and one public pharmacy which is situated in the multiprofile hospital for active medication “Panayot Hitov” – Kula. Culture and social activities Cultural event with local meaning for the municipality is the traditional annual Kula fair. There is one community centre and one youth centre in Kula. The rest of the populated areas have 7 community centres, 2 of which do not have permanently appointed staff. There is a home for old people on the territory of the municipality. The capacity of the house is 50 people. In the territory of the municipality there is a home for children and youth with mental backwardness from 10 to 18 years with 50 people capacity. In Kula is revealed the first in Bulgaria micro house for injured people over 18 years – with capacity of 5 people. Economy No matter of the structural changes the development of the traditional branches is going to continue – chemical industry, sewing production and craft. At the moment on the territory of the municipality of Kula there is not a developed tourism. There are no private rest- houses and hotels, only one hotel property of RPC – Kula which is not functioning. Municipality’s priorities for development
