Ruzhintsi municipality is situated in North- western Bulgaria. It is 160 km from our capital city – Sofia. The municipality is bounded by Republic Serbia.
Total area of Ruzhintsi municipality is 232 km². River Lom crosses the territory of the municipality. Ruzhintsi municipality consists 10 built- up area. 42 people are working in the municipality’s administration.
Human resources
The population of Ruzhintsi municipality till 05.02.2001 is 5818people, 2 781 men and 3037 women. The ethnical structure of the municipality is as follows: 74.91% Bulgarians, 25.03% gypsy’s and small part – 0, 03% Turkish and Macedonian population.
In Ruzhintsi municipality 2, 7% from the population is with university degree and 14, 68% with collage and secondary education. Number of employed till May 2001 in the social sector is 405 and in private sector – 190. The incomes of the employed marks stable height and can be compares with the middle country level.
Transport communications
The transport network of the territory in Ruzhintsi municipality is 87 km from which:

²V class roads – 21 km
The transport communication of the territory of municipality is in utterly inadequate condition which bothers the transport connections of the villages with the Region centre and the country.
A railway line from Sofia, Vratsa and Boychinovtsi to Dimovo, Dunavtsi and Vidin passes through the north- western part of the municipality. The only train station on the municipality’s territory is situated in Drenovets village and it has transit character. The other railway line of the municipality with the country is Oreshets which is in about 10 km from village Ruzhintsi.

In the municipality there are 1 855 active telephones. The municipality’s territory is fully covered from the mobile operators.
Street illumination
The street illumination is about 95%.
The municipality is energy dependent from the energy network of the country. There is no active electric power- station.
Education
The education network of the municipality’s territory contains:

Ruzhintsi municipality is an example of successfully implemented reform in health service system.
On the territory of the municipality there are registered doctors on general practice as it follows: specialized dental help – 4; specialized medicine individual practice – 2.
The pharmacies in the municipalities are 2.
General section in the health service of the municipality is the profile hospital for active treatment – Belogradchik city.
Culture
There are 3 community centres on the territory of Ruzhintsi municipality – in the villages Ruzhintsi, Drenovets and Gyurgich.
These community centres have libraries. The community centre “Prosveta”- in village Gyurgich – has vocal party for authentic folklore.
Agriculture
Ruzhintsi municipality is an agricultural region with potential and traditions in vegetable- growing and gain- production.
Industry
On the territory of the municipality there are 3 productive enterprises “ÌÊ” PLC in Ruzhintsi, LTD “AC” Ruzhintsi and LTD “Vidiya –Dr-92” in Drenovets.
Only “FMC“LTD in Ruzhintsi with regard to: designing, production and realization of every kind metal constructions.
LTD “Vidiya –Dr-92” in Drenovets is working only with orders. The association is proclaimed for privatization.
LTD “AC” in Ruzhintsi is not functioning and is in a process of privatization.
In the municipality there are mostly small enterprises which produce bread and bread products.
The municipality has at its disposal solid buildings which can be used for the development of light industry.
Construction
There are no constructing companies in the municipality.
Transport – tendencies for development
The transport communications are not in a good condition. Some steps have been made for the reconstruction of the main road Å –79 and some of the ²V class road connections in the populated areas of the municipality connected with this road. Small reconstructions of ²V class road network are foreseen.
Business services (trade, banks, insurance companies)
There are no branches of trade banks in the municipality, the only services are in Belogradchik and Vidin.
Priorities for the development of Ruzhintsi municipality
1. Development of the technical infrastructure

• Stimulation and restoration of traditional agricultural production, export oriented and extension export of the same production;
• Construction of commodity – vegetable market place;
• Utilization of natural reservoir for breeding- pond and for the development of fish- breeding. Preserving and protecting the environment
Building and development of flexible network of small and middle agricultural enterprises and co- operations, family and stock farms
3. Transport system
Reconstruction and modernization of transport connections with neighborhood villages. Building a market- place in Ruzhintsi.
4. Social infrastructure
• Reconstruction of kindergarten in Drenovets.
