Fourth partner meeting on project TRANSDANUBE in Veszprem, Hungary
Representatives from Regional administration Vidin will take part in the Fourth partner meeting on project “TRANSDANUBE – Sustainable Transport and Tourism along the Danube” which will take place in the Hungarian town Veszprem from February 12 – 13, 2014.

On the workshop will be discussed the financial status of the project, proposals for tourist packages along the Danube and general and regional Marketing strategies of the project partners.

During the meeting will be held a session of the Project Steering Committee and also will be discussed ideas for the project continuation and sustainability of the project activities.

TRANSDANUBE aims to develop the sustainable mobility along the Danube through the promotion of alternative models of transport – train, bus, bicycle and ship and to spread the concept for sustainable development of tourism in the Danube region. The project is financed by the South East Europe Transnational Cooperation Programme and there are 14 financing partners from 6 countries and more than 35 strategic partners and observers. TRANSDANUBE contributes to achieving the objectives of the European polices and strategies and particularly the implementation of the European Strategy for the Danube region.

The Common vision for sustainable mobility in the Danube region was signed on September 17, 2013 in Bratislava, Slovakia from 14 financial partners among which is Regional administration Vidin. The Common vision aims to develop a socially fair, economically efficient, environmentally friendly region by providing mobile transport and tourist offers for citizens and guests of the different regions. The main objective is developing the multimodal and efficient transport systems and sustainable tourism services based on renewable energy sources, saving energy and resources, preserving natural and cultural heritage and keeping the endangered Danube ecosystems and landscapes while at the same time ensuring sustainable regional development and offering new opportunities for green economy and services in the region.

In the framework of the project TRANSDANUBE will be developed Regional action plans, sustainable transport offers, soft mobility tourist packages, Digital map providing information for existing mobility and tourist offers and development of Regional marketing plans and specific activities. The project implementation will continue until September 2014.
